Buffalo wings Recipe
Buffalo wings are a classic American appetiser featuring crispy fried or baked chicken wings tossed in a tangy and spicy Buffalo sauce. They are often served with celery sticks and blue cheese or ranch dressing for dipping. Here’s a simple recipe to make them at home.
Ingredients:
For the Wings:
- 2 lbs chicken wings (drums and flats, separated)
- 1 tbsp baking powder (for extra crispiness)
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
For the Buffalo Sauce:
- ½ cup hot sauce (such as Frank’s RedHot)
- ¼ cup unsalted butter
- 1 tbsp white vinegar
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt to taste
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Wings:
- Pat the wings dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture, which helps them crisp up in the oven.
- Toss the wings in a bowl with baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder to evenly coat them.
2. Bake or Fry the Wings:
- To Bake:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Place the wings on a wire rack set over a baking sheet (this helps air circulate and keeps the wings crispy).
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the wings are golden and crispy.
- To Fry:
- Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep pan or Dutch oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the wings in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for 8-10 minutes, or until the wings are golden brown and crispy.
- Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
3. Make the Buffalo Sauce:
- While the wings are cooking, melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.
- Whisk in the hot sauce, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt. Heat until the sauce is smooth and slightly thickened.
4. Toss the Wings:
- Once the wings are crispy and cooked through, transfer them to a large mixing bowl.
- Pour the Buffalo sauce over the wings and toss to coat them evenly.
5. Serve:
- Serve the wings hot with celery sticks and blue cheese or ranch dressing on the side.
Enjoy your delicious, spicy Buffalo wings!
