Ingredients:
For the Dough:
All-purpose flour
Granulated sugar
Active dry yeast
Salt
Warm milk
Unsalted butter, melted
Mashed ripe bananas
Egg
For the Filling:
Brown sugar
Ground cinnamon
Unsalted butter, softened
For the Icing:
Cream cheese, softened
Powdered sugar
Vanilla extract
Milk
For Garnish:
Chopped walnuts (optional)
Sliced bananas (optional)
Directions:
Prepare the Dough:
In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, active dry yeast, and salt.
Add warm milk, melted butter, mashed bananas, and egg to the flour mixture. Mix until well combined.
Gradually add the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Prepare the Filling:
In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and ground cinnamon.
Roll out the dough into a large rectangle on a floured surface.
Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.
Roll and Cut the Dough:
Roll the dough up tightly from the long side to form a log.
Cut the log into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
Preheat the Oven to 350°F (175°C).
Bake the Cinnamon Rolls:
Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
Prepare the Icing:
In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
Ice and Serve:
Spread the icing over the warm cinnamon rolls.
Garnish with chopped walnuts and sliced bananas if desired. Serve warm.
